"CampusRN Surveys Nursing Candidates"
A survey by CampusRN, a web site focused exclusively on connecting hospitals and other
healthcare organizations with entry-level talent, points to the importance of salary and benefits, over schedule and reputation of the employer as
factors in candidates’ job selection. "With the shortage in young nursing and allied health talent,
it is crucial for employers to know as much as possible about students and new graduates,
how they are approaching their career exploration process, and what is important to them,"
says Matt Casey, CEO of CampusRN.
A unique facet of CampusRN is its ability to draw on experienced healthcare workers who are
returning to school for advanced degrees. "It poses a unique opportunity for employers to have
one interface to connect with students and recentgraduates, and also to recruit experienced
candidates at all levels,"Casey says.
CampusRN has partnered with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) to create an online career center.
"Because CampusRN is powering the AACN recruitment site and this resource is being promoted to AACN
member institutions, the quality of candidates is very high, and they are
from top programs," says Michael Impollina, manager of nurse recruitment at Mt. Sinai Hospital
in New York. "I was expecting to see a typical web site featuring job postings and a resume
database. I was surprised at what [they] had to offer, including the option of running very targeted
searches, sending hundreds of personalized emails to candidates with the click of a button,
publicizing my campus visits to students at schools of nursing, and getting a CampusRN client
service representative to personally help source candidates," Impollina adds. Sarah Croopnick of
Tufts-New England Medical Center agrees. "The ease of their product made sourcing these candidates
seamless, and students applied directly to me through my personal email box which helped
the process tremendously."
