Mercy Hospital, founded in 1910 by the Sisters of Mercy, has a long history of providing community care that is both compassionate and comprehensive. Our downtown Bakersfield facility, Mercy Hospital is licensed for 144 acute care beds and is a part of the Catholic Healthcare West system.

Our full range of medical and surgical services also includes a 50-bed Skilled Nursing Unit; a 14-station, Level II Base-Station Emergency Department; six surgical suites; PACU; ambulatory and prep units; outpatient surgery; outpatient/inpatient GI laboratory; and occupational care. Mercy Hospital is extremely proud to be the home of the Florence R. Wheeler Cancer Center. Offering advanced radiation therapy, we're very excited about the upcoming addition of state-of-the-art radiation treatment planning and delivery equipment. These upgrades will enable the Center to offer a level of care more commonly found at university and research facilities.
