Lexicon Genetics

Lexicon Genetics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery of breakthrough treatments for human disease. We are systematically discovering the physiological and behavioral functions of genes to identify potential points of therapeutic intervention, or drug targets. We make these discoveries using our proprietary technology to knock out, or disrupt, the function of genes in mice. Our gene knockout technology allows us to model, on a genome-wide scale, the effects on physiology that could be expected from prospective drugs directed against novel targets. For targets that we believe have high pharmaceutical value, we engage in programs for the discovery and development of small molecule drugs, therapeutic antibodies and therapeutic proteins. We have advanced more than 60 knockout-validated targets into drug discovery programs in six therapeutic areas: diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular disease, psychiatric and neurological disorders, cancer, immune system disorders and ophthalmic disease. Our physiology-based approach to understanding gene function and our use of knockouts to model expected drug action are designed to identify new ways to treat major human diseases.
