Human Genome Sciences

Human Genome Sciences is a biopharmaceutical company with a significant product pipeline derived primarily from proprietary genomic technology. Our goal today is the same as when we were founded in 1992: to create a global biopharmaceutical company to discover, develop, manufacture, and market gene-based protein and antibody drugs to treat and cure disease.

We are now a company that emphasizes early- to mid-stage drug development while maintaining very significant strengths in drug discovery. We have a number of products in clinical development, with a concentration in two main therapeutic areas, immunology/infectious disease and oncology. Our core pipeline currently includes six products for use in the treatment of systemic lupus, erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic hepatitis C, and a variety of cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Three of our products are in now in Phase 2 clinical trials.

The success of our drug discovery efforts derives from our proprietary technology and expertise in genomics, the systematic collection and understanding of human genes and their functions, and from our exclusive internal focus on developing human protein and antibody drugs. We use collaborations for the development of gene therapy products, small molecule drugs, and diagnostic products discovered using our genomics-based technology. Our partners have advanced a number of products derived from our technology to clinical development.

Human Genome Sciences is its employees, and the success our Company enjoys is directly attributable to their drive, talent, and extraordinary dedication to our mission - to to become a biopharmaceutical company. The work we do is challenging and our standards are high. Our philosophy is to provide employees with excellent rewards and benefits, significant opportunities to develop professionally, a first-class work environment and the resources they need to do their jobs well.
