Texas Health Allen seeks an Ultrasonographer II. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS / Requirements:
Graduate of Accredited ultrasound technology or enhanced program
1 year direct ultrasound experience within a hospital or clinical setting required.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity and a positive attitude.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Familiarity with PC/Windows.
Requires knowledge of human anatomy and sonographic principles and techniques.
Requires ability to operate sonographic equipment.
Requires knowledge of safe transportation methods.
Requires use of stretchers, wheel chairs and assisting ambulatory patients.
Requires ability to communicate through listening, writing and verbal skills.
Requires lifting or supporting patients, bending, reaching.
Required License:
Current BCLS certification. ARDMS registry required.
Preferred Requirements:
Vascular registry preferred.
Position:
This position will be responsible for performing Sonographic procedures and processing images according to established protocols under the direction of a physician, as well as transporting patients as necessary according to established protocols.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assessing and recognizing the patients emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions and responds appropriately, checking armband/patient identifiers, obtaining patient history and completing pregnancy questionnaires on all female patients between 12 and 50 years of age.
Preparing room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies,) checking physician orders and exam requisitions, explaining procedures and expected outcomes to the patients, and appropriately handling patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices
Performing time-out/ procedural pause for invasive procedures,
Performing laterality verification for invasive procedures,
Transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher as per protocol established by the Falling Star Program Falls Prevention Program and ensures patient care continuity
Demonstrating knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment
Using proper body mechanics when assisting patient
Positioning patient to correct anatomical area of interest to and adjusting technique parameters appropriately for age related factors
Assisting radiologists with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique
Processesing and manipulating images and analyzes image quality and technique adjustments to verbalize trouble shooting
Understanding proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS / RIS
Correctly sending/ transferring images to PACS and prints laser images from modality or PACS
Operating, caring for and maintaining all equipment and applies knowledge of physics and accessories
Troubleshooting and properly documenting equipment malfunction to maintain equipment and room to sanitary standards
Demonstrating the knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards to
