Qualifications:/Duties
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or MIS degree with 15 hours of Accounting

5 years experience in finance field, prior healthcare and decision support experience preferred.

Excellent computer skills with full suite Microsoft office applications, including Access. Prefer experience with relational database technology.

Good oral and written communication skills.
Detail oriented and analytically minded.
Excellent collaboration skills.
Experienced in manipulating large databases.
Experience in process accounting (using standard costs)

Responsible for having a strong background of hospital financial accounting concepts to provide basis for operational analysis.
Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
-Conducts ongoing process constraint analyses.
-Reports on breakeven point by product, product line, department, and company.
-Reports on margins by product and division.
-Reports on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
-Performs cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
-Communicates results to management.
-Able to perform ad hoc analysis as needed for a facility or facilities, as directed.

Must have a through knowledge of cost accounting principles and concepts. Must be able to apply cost accounting concepts to products and patient encounters using medical coding terminology and Relative Value Unit (RVU) methods.

Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
-Work with facility departments to develop and update standard costs and RVU's.
-Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies and recommend changes.
-Validate the costs of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
-Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.

Must have extremely strong PC and database skills with high degree of proficiency with the Microsoft Office product suite, including the Access database application.
Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
-Constructs data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system.
-Creates and reviews the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
-Reconciles the Patient Level database to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
-Capable of performing system analyst tasks to understand how data interfaces with and affects the decision support system.
-Able to assist others with the use of database technology to support financial/clinical analysis.
