Texas Health Stephenville is seeing a Radiographer Prn. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS / Requirements:

Graduate of ARRT / ASRT accredited school of radiologic technology
Required certifications: ARRT (R), MRT, CPR
Venipuncture experience
Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and written
Must have excellent customer service skills

Preferred Requirements:

Knowledge of ESWL procedures

Position:

This position will be responsible for performing imaging examinations according to departmental policies and procedures including portable radiographic, C-ARM exams in various parts of the hospital, including the ED and Surgery. They will oversee Patient care, Imaging procedures including quality and processing, and Equipment maintenance and operation.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Patient Care

• Assessing and recognizing the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions and adapting procedures appropriately
• Greeting and acknowledging patients using two forms of ID, obtaining patient history and symptoms, ensuring exam and relevant clinical information are accurate and correct, and procedure is performed without incident
• Preparing room for examination (i.e. supplies, injectors, linens, etc.), checking physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures, and ensuring patient apparatus is in working order and ready to use to eliminate patient risk
• Handling patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices and monitoring patient during imaging, using proper body mechanics when assisting patients, and ensuring the patient receives the appropriate care in consultation with the Radiologist
• Safely administering contrast media and other medications in accordance with medication administration guidelines, including proper removal from Pyxis and RIS, as well as, Care Connect data entry for charging and medical record documentation
• Demonstrating knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment, and ensuring right patient, right medication, right dose, right route and right time are used according to age specific needs

Imaging Procedures, Quality and Processing

• Explaining procedures to patients / family members if applicable prior to exam
• Positioning patients to correct anatomical area of interest, adjusting technique parameters appropriately for age related factors and body habitus, and ensuring correct anatomical / positioning markers and patient information is captured on images
• Processing, manipulating and printing images from modality or PCS, analyzing image quality, troubleshooting, making technique adjustments or repeating procedures as needed
• Correctly sending and transferring images to PACS, capable of making CD’s of images when needed
• Ensuring accurate data for image interpretation is provided, including accurate medical information and data integrity are recorded and correct exam sequence is scheduled
• Providing after-hours call support for radiology services, should such be necessary

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

• Operating, caring for and maintaining equipment including troubleshooting and properly documenting equipment malfunctions
• Maintaining equipment and room sanitary standards, stocks supplies, adjusting technical factors and applying knowledge of physics and accessories
• Exchanging and maintaining film badges within designated time frames
• Ensuring image quality and safety to the public is maintained and Operating, Safety and Emergency Procedures are being followed

Hours:

Shift is a 24 to 32 hr a week job, shift is variable morning to evenings
