Job Function

HOURS: This is a PRN (on call, as needed) position.
Includes weekend and holiday work

High school diploma or equivalent

Prefer medical terminology and scheduling exp.
1-2 yrs. of hospital clerical, general clerical or certificate of achievement in clerical or business related course
Other hospital or documentation and customer service skills helpful
Collections, cashier and financial counseling experience preferred
Ability to type, spell, write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers
Strong interpersonal communication, documentation and customer service skills

Obtains accurate financial and complete demographic patient information pertaining to the patient account
Maintains the ability to effectively work in any and all registration/admitting areas
Create a human connection with patients that builds loyality and bolsters a hospital reputation of caring by establishing empathy from the first point of contact
Ensures proper consents are signed by applicable involved parties
Remain compliant with proper documentation with regards to history of account
Maintain a thorough understanding and possess the ability to clearly explain all forms used in the registration process
Maintain a thorough knowledge of THR's Upfront collection policy
Assist the patient in understanding the financial obligation for payment of their past/present accounts
Consistently attempts to collect deposits at time of registration based on notes entered by benefits department and/or financial counselors as needed.
Consistently enter notes documenting receipt of payment or attempt to collect payment
Ensures that all warnings, online edits are researched and corrected when necessary
Successfully search the EAD for a patient's medical record number before creating an account
Obtain knowledge of system and departmental policies
