Texas Health Resources is seeking a Director Safety and Risk Management Operations. This position reports to the Vice President, Safety and Risk Management. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Master’s degree in health administration, business administration, public health, or related field.
Five years in a healthcare setting with 3-5 years of strategic management preferably in patient safety, risk management, PI/QA.
RN (preferred) or licensed/certified healthcare professional
Requires expertise in communicating (verbal, written) effectively for all levels in the organization including system leadership, hospital executives, finance, system and entity departments, and COPICs. Ability to complete award applications thus having an understanding of the measures needed throughout the project. Experience in analysis and facilitation, with a strong knowledge base regarding clinical practices, ability to resolve complex problems requiring the use of mathematical and/or technical principles and advanced computer skills. Must be able to show experience in directing and influencing departments/people, committees, and /or groups and to demonstrate how the individual has designed, and successfully directed implementation of new initiatives through the work of others. Good organizational skills demonstrating timely completion of multiple projects and/or assignments. Has an understanding of safety and regulatory standards in the areas of patient safety, risk management, and the environment of care.

Responsibilities of the Job:
Direct internal operations to create a productive, organized work plan for the service line ensuring timely completion of the deliverables to support the departments within the service line, at the system level and the entity Risk Managers and EOC staff.
Develops new initiatives to mitigate the new risks to the organization, e.g., Accountable Care model and the methodology to alleviate the identified areas of exposure. Possess an understanding of both corporate and hospital culture and their operations so as to be able to identify recognized needs for improvement, with supporting documentation, and a well developed plan for implementing new initiatives or current process improvements as needed.
Ability to create, evaluate and provide analytical reports for the service line (system) and entities that provide measureable data for numerous metrics related to the service line objectives to support the strategic initiatives. Needs a working knowledge of the THR financial programs, and the ability to input and run dept reports to provide analysis to prevent/reduce patient injuries. Leads improvement efforts/new initiatives as needed in the areas of safety, risk management, environment of care and emergency management for the system or individual Texas Health hospitals.
Ability to produce immediate ad hoc reports for quick analysis of major or catastrophic events.
Assists entity Risk Managers and EOC staff in developing CBA and ROI for proposed safety and risk management programs or equipment to ensure adequate operations to meet clinical and accreditors’ standards and external agencies regulations.
Collaborates with the staffs of CI-DAM and CareConnect to improve patient outcomes through measurement of identified objectives or program enhancements.
