PER DIEM 8 HOUR 0800-1630 Days Licensed Speech Language Pathologist At least one year experience required Responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relating to dysphagia, speech, language and cognitive disorders with patients with multiple diagnostic problems. The Speech/Language Pathologist I interprets, organizes, applies and modifies as necessary medically prescribed speech therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients. The SLPI plans and implements programs to meet individual needs and provides patient care consistent with the Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Competency skills include the ability to provide care in a safe environment utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity to special populations. This includes patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical impairments. The SLP I acts as a resource and assists with inservices to medical staff in speech pathology related areas. The SLP I may participate in additional programs and teaching opportunities including but not limited to: · Assisting with Speech Pathology intern/student program and CFY/RPE programs. · Assisting with education to hospital staff including new residents, nursing, etc. · Assisting with department in-services on new equipment, tests, and/or procedures and techniques.

SANTA BARBARA COTTAGE HOSPITAL. Today a 408-bed acute care teaching hospital and trauma center, the largest of its kind between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area, the hospital was founded in 1888 by 50 women determined to provide a healthcare facility for the growing community of Santa Barbara. Now with annual admissions of more than 18,000 patients, 41,000 emergency department visits, and almost 2,500 births, the hospital is renowned for its comprehensive maternal-child and pediatric services (Cottage Children’s Hospital), cardiac, neurosurgical, neuroendovascular and oncology programs, emergency and trauma services, modern operating rooms, sophisticated diagnostic radiology equipment, outpatient imaging center, outpatient surgery, eye center, rehabilitation services (Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital), and psychiatric and chemical dependency services. Its medical staff of more than 600 includes specialists in all major clinical areas, many of whom are involved in the training and education of new physicians in the hospital’s internal medicine, general surgery and radiology residency programs.
GOLETA VALLEY COTTAGE HOSPITAL. Founded in 1966 to serve the growing community of Goleta Valley, the hospital today is licensed for 122 acute-care beds, admits 1,600 patients a year, sees 17,000 emergency visits, is recognized for its comprehensive Breast Care Center, Subacute unit, and Center for Wound Management. The hospital joined forces with Cottage Health System in 1996.
SANTA YNEZ VALLEY COTTAGE HOSPITAL. Offering acute-care services to the residents and visitors of Santa Ynez Valley since 1964, the 10-bed hospital became affiliated with Cottage in 1995, and today continues to provide inpatient and outpatient surgery, 24-hour emergency services, and a physician office rental program that brings specialists to the Valley on a regular basis.
PACIFIC DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES. A fully owned subsidiary of CHS since 2009, PDL offers outpatient laboratory services at 13 different locations, completing more than 5.5 million tests in 2010.
