Advanced Project Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose Join the magnet/gradient engineering team, centered in Florence, SC, USA. (the world's largest plant for superconducting magnet production), part of Global MR Science & Technology.
Essential Responsibilities *Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost.
*Be involved in both new product design and support of existing products with manufacturing, sourcing and service
*Participate in product safety, cost out, cycle time reduction and quality enhancement projects.
*Support and comply with the quality and safety goals of GE Healthcare (GEHC).
*Define superconducting magnet concepts, functional requirements and program goals.
*Provide support and direction in the design and analysis of advanced products.
*Support the manufacturing plant and the Installed BaseLead and coordinate development of manufacturing processes, tooling development and prototype planning for new products and cost improvement projects.
*Planning and execution control of materials & tooling for prototype builds.
*Responsible for prototype productivity, quality, cost and timeliness in manufacturing area.
*Prepare written Process instructions for engineering models and transition to manufacturing operations.
Qualifications/Requirements This position is open to external and internal candidates.

- B.S. Engineering or Physics Degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial preferred) OR Equivalent Experience which is considered 5+ years manufacturing engineering and project management experience.
- 3 years manufacturing engineering experience
- 1 years project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, oral and written
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Knowledge of electro / mechanical assembly processes
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing processes
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project.)
- Ability to work in a matrix organization and in a global environment
-Must be willing to work in Florence, SC
- You must be willing to take a drug test.
- You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background.

Desired Characteristics -MS engineering degree
- CAD experience to prepare engineering designs and drawings.
- Knowledge in TIG/MIG welding processes
- Ability to guide and lead others not in a direct reporting relationship
- Tool and equipment design experience
- 5 years manufacturing engineering experience
- 3 years in project management experience
- Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
- GE Healthcare experience.
