Assistant, Regional Operations

Position Summary
We are seeking an assistant to provide critical support to the Regional Operations team and manage the administrative work for three Vice Presidents. This individual will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating travel, planning executive director conferences, and participating in other various team projects as necessary. The assistant reports directly to the director of staff operations on the regional operations team.
The Regional Operations team works to foster regional innovation and ensure consistent increases in regional performance by identifying, developing, and overseeing Teach For America’s regional executive directors, who collectively fuel the growth and success of our mission. The team works to ensure that Teach For America’s regions maximize the impact of corps members and alumni, in addition to cultivating diverse and sustainable funding bases to ensure their long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities
Ongoing
• Managing multiple calendars including scheduling meetings, proactively identifying concerns, and arranging travel
• Coordinating and creating weekly email blast to executive directors across the country
• Processing reimbursements
• Supporting the executive director interview process including communication with candidates
• Assisting new executive directors by providing administrative support as needed in their transitional period
• Taking on additional special projects as needed by the team
Potential Projects
• Organizing the logistics of executive director conferences including lodging, conference space, communication, and activities
• Organizing the logistics of our yearly goal setting including communications with regions, mapping out the schedule, and coordinating travel and logistics
Candidate Profile and Experience Prerequisites
Skills: Proven/Demonstrated experience…
• Strong customer service ethic required
• Excellent organization and communication skills and attention to detail required
• Strong critical thinking, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and to manage multiple projects with a spirit of flexibility
• Familiarity with managing confidential information and ability to exercise discretion required

Technical Skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) strongly preferred
• Bachelor degree required
• 0 to 3 years of work experience preferred
• Previous administrative experience preferred, but not required

THE CHALLENGE

    LONG TERM CHANGE
    Teach For America alumni form a network of successful, informed leaders who have insight into the changes needed to improve life prospects in under-resourced areas, and who work towards these changes through all sectors of society.

  • Approximately 60 % of alumni remain in the field of education, as teachers, school and district administrators, or founders of innovative new schools and programs.

  • Another 40% of alumni work in fields such as medicine, business, politics, journalism, and law, using their status as leaders and the insight and credibility they gained in the corps to effect change.
