St. Joseph's continues to expand and enhance its services to meet the growing needs of the community by providing comprehensive neurological, neurosurgical, pediatric, perinatal, cardiac, thoracic, and cancer care. The hospital's nine critical care units serve more than 60,000 patients each year. In 2006, St. Joseph's opened a 144-bed tower, making it the largest hospital in Arizona with 690 beds.
Founded in 1895 by the Sisters of Mercy, St. Joseph's continues to help the underserved through clinics, community grants and outreach programs. The hospital is part of Catholic Healthcare West, which has more than 40 hospitals in Arizona, California and Nevada.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The General Surgery department at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is a dynamic environment where you can pursue a highly challenging and rewarding career. Our multi-specialty department facilitates a wide range of patient procedures. Partnering with our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), we are able to offer our patients highly professional care in an environment that enhances the overall surgical/procedural experience. St Joseph’s Main Operating Rooms have state-of-the-art equipment including Minimally Invasive OR’s and the DaVinci Robot.

The working environment:
Our eleven-room OR suite maintains a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, which enables us to form close relationships with patients and their families during very difficult times. We also feature a 22-bay multi-level PACU with staff dedicated to trauma and other emergency cases. Our PACU features a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. Throughout the unit we are committed to using the latest technology, affording staff the opportunity to constantly learn and enhance their skills. As a Level I Trauma Center, we are operational 24/7. We primarily feature ten hour shifts for scheduled cases and when taking call (CALL REQUIRED for days ONLY!!)

REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to obtain an AZ RN License or an RN License from a Compact State (refer to www.ncsbn.org for a complete listing of Compact States)
1 year nursing experience required, with OR experience preferred.
PACU nurses must be ACLS and PALS certified.
RN – 2 years Preferred
