JOB PURPOSE
Under direct supervision of a Dentist, provides chair-side assistance to the Dentist.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Dentist/Dental Practice Lead
Directs: Non-supervisory
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Assists Dentist with oral hygiene instruction, takes, develops and mounts x-rays, takes impressions of dentures for dental appliances and orders and maintains supply inventory.
Performs procedures to compile with infection control policies and prepare operatories for patient treatment.
Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.
Maintains patient follow up procedures.
Assists front desk staff when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of dental assisting
Skill in:
Providing dental assisting duties
Ability to:
Provide dental assisting services as assigned within the scope of this role
Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly is required to:
Grasp, handle, feel, lift up to 10 lbs., listen, see, sit, talk
The employee frequently is required to:
Reach, stand, walk
The employee occasionally is required to:
Pull, push, stoop
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalent, completion of an accredited course in dental assistance and one year experience in the dental field
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION
Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control certificates and current healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card and will be required to maintain a current CPR certification during employment.
