Responsibilities
Computer/Electrical Engineers at the National Security Agency (NSA) push the limits of the most advanced technologies in pursuit of technological breakthroughs that help ensure the Nation's information superiority.
Computer/Electrical Engineering opportunities range from fundamental research through advanced development, small to large system design and prototype development, developmental test and evaluation, field installation, and operational support.
At NSA, you will be involved in different projects designed to enhance your professional growth. No matter what career path you follow, you will experience the demanding and exhilarating challenges unavailable to those in the private sector.
Computer Science/Electrical Engineering career paths include:
- Design of special-purpose computers and antenna systems
- Pattern recognition technologies
- Signals analysis
- Optics
- Design, development, and testing of electronic communications
You will be involved in multiple stages of projects, including requirements analysis, design, simulation, experimentation, benchwork, prototype development and testing, manufacturing, and possibly field work.
Technical Skills:
The following technical skills are needed throughout NSA:
Networking Engineering - Design/analysis of LANs/WANs, routers, switches, firewalls, protocol
Software Engineering - JAVA, C++, XML, HTML, Web applications, object oriented analysis and design, rapid prototyping, algorithm development
Communications - Digital and analog, fixed and mobile wireless, satellite, antenna design
Systems Engineering - End-to-end real-time operating systems, signals processing, VHDL/hardware development
Microelectronics - VHDL, FPGA, microelectronic manufacturing and testing (MCM, SOC), electronic packagaing, VLSI
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should possess the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Innovative thinking to solve complex problems
