GENERAL SUMMARY: The Inpatient/Outpatient Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in the in-patient and out-patient setting. Intervenes in acute and/or chronic illness and coordinates care between in-patient and out-patient oncology services at Sibley Memorial Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Institution. Works with hospitalists, nursing leadership, and Medical Oncology Director on in-patient oncology services serving as the clinical resource for admitted patients from the Kimmel Medical Oncology clinic. Monitors quality of oncology care across the in-patient-out-patient continuum. Obtains appropriate histories, performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic testing as well as develops care and treatment plans. Other activities are in support of patient/family education, staff education, unit activities, and psychosocial care of patients and families. Applicants should demonstrate a strong potential for excellence in clinical care, education, or quality improvement. The candidate will have opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and scholarship, working with the dynamic nursing staff and leadership at Sibley Memorial Hospital. The candidate should demonstrate interest in the care of oncologic patients and family members. We are seeking candidates with experience in clinical oncology, as this position will work closely with Johns Hopkins Sibley Kimmel Cancer Center faculty (oncologist) and play a key role in the care of oncology patients.
