Responsibilities How would you like to spend your summer developing technological solutions that contribute to the security of our nation? Where can you work and see that your efforts are supporting the broader Intelligence Community and our Armed Forces? The Hawaii Technical Summer Intern Program is a 12-week internship for high-potential, full-time college students. This program offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience while building knowledge and skills in fundamental aspects of the NSA mission. Internship positions are offered in multiple mission areas requiring a range of competencies to include but not limited to computer science, programming, engineering, math, data analysis, and geospatial analysis. Interns will be hired on a Temporary Appointment for a term no more than 12 weeks following the beginning of the internship. Interns must reapply yearly to participate in subsequent summers. Ideally, candidates with the following knowledge/skills/abilities will fit well into the internship positions at NSA Hawaii: -Knowledge or experience with software design and development. Familiarity with Software Engineering processes and practices is beneficial. -Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is recommended: object-oriented programming; operating systems: Linux, Windows; languages: Java, JavaScript libraries (Ext JS, Angular, etc.), C++, Python, SQL and NoSQL based Data Stores; client/server applications development; Agile Development Methods. -Experience with project management. -Knowledge or experience in system administration, network administration and/or requirements analysis. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with peers, subject matter experts, and customers. Strong research skills, teamwork and collaboration are essential. Qualifications - Must be a U.S. citizen. - Must be eligible to be granted a security clearance. - A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. - Must be a college freshman, sophomore or junior. - Prior military experience beneficial, but not required. - Must be available for an operational interview and other applicable processing between the months of December 2017 and March 2018. -Must have personal transportation to the location of the internship. There are no bus stops within a reasonable distance to the site. - Majors in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related fields preferred. Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule - Interns are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level. - Receive annual leave, sick leave and paid federal holidays. - Participation in agency-wide extracurricular programs. **PLEASE NOTE: This position is located in Hawaii.
