Summary: This

position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to

continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the

core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness.

Reports to Patient Care Manager. The Clinical Nurse B functions in a

patient-centered care model of practice and performs the nursing process with

minimal supervision. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and

continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in an area

of specialty. Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice

to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Utilizes discretion and

independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of

age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Functions in

a skills mix environment and directly trains, supervises, assigns and delegates

tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. Demonstrates competencies as defined in

the unit/department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Utilizes interpersonal

skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and

professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation

among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to

participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs. May be required to serve in shift coordinator

role upon completion of shift coordinator orientation. Performs other duties as

needed. Job Specifications:

Demonstrates competencies in clinical nursing. Ability to apply theoretical

concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and

clinical skills with a focus in neighborhood of specialty. Able to read; write

legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use

computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word,

Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment;

perform technical patient care activities. Able to relate and communicate

positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and

consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond

courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept

direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and

on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision;

perform basic math and statistical functions; compose written material; manage

multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve;

organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close

attention to detail. Associate Degree in

Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in

Nursing (BSN) or enrolled in BSN program preferred. No experience required. New hires are eligible to be promoted into

the CNC classification if standards outlined in the Clinical Nurse Ladder

handbook and job specifications outlined in CNC job description are met. Active

California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS)

certification required. Advanced Cardiac

Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal

Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification as required in the Department Plan for

Providing Care and may be obtained during orientation process.

Facility Description:
Loma Linda University Medical Center is a 789-bed academic tertiary care hospital with over twenty specialties. We have 72 beds in our Level III NICU, which is the only one of its kind and size in our region, as well as the Children’s Hospital dedicated just for kids. Along with the Children’s Hospital, LLUMC’s East Campus, and Behavioral Medicine Center, we have nearly 900 beds available for patient care. Our East Campus specializes in the areas of physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedics, neurosurgery and family medicine.
