Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center is currently seeking a Surgical Services Nurse Manager to lead a dynamic team. The Surgical Services Nurse Manager will facilitate an environment that challenges our team members to be present and positively impact the health and well-being of our patients, our families and our communities through the nursing process. The Surgical Services Nurse Manager will strive to spend at least 50% of their time on the unit and is visible, present and available to staff to provide necessary mentoring, teaching and support.
Responsibilities:
Develop, monitor and control the staffing needs, operations budget and purchasing plan as well as continuous monitoring of operations to ensure compliance with goals and budgets.
Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate departmental policy and procedure manuals for use by the staff
Ensure the surgical programs and clinical services are in compliance with the respective components of regulatory body and accrediting body standards
Ensure appropriate record keeping is maintained and incidents per required guidelines & policies
Attend corporate administrative meetings representing the facility, in addition to continuing educational programs
Review employee performance as evaluated by their respective managers, ensuring that reviews occur as scheduled or at least annually for each employee
Review and approve the disciplinary action and/or discharge and hiring of employees
Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
Minimum of two years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting required
Licensure/certification/registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required. BLS required. Prior demonstrated leadership preferred.
Understand and apply current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility
Manage regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedure
Possess strong understanding of information systems and software used in area of responsibility Must be able to operate equipment used in performing assigned duties
Apply safety and infection control policies and procedures
Possess skills in interviewing and selection process
Have a strong understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred
Board certification in area of practice
