<strong>Job Duties</strong><br /><br />We have a wonderful new opportunity in the Clinical Labs! Our Blood Bank is one of the busiest in the world as it supports one of the Health Systems with the highest amount of transplants in the world.
<BR><BR>The Transfusion Safety and Blood Management Officer (TSO) is responsible for the development of the Blood Management Program to assure that all transfusion-related activities are designed to ensure patient safety, comply with all Hospital Policies and Procedures, and meet or exceed DPH, TJC, FDA, AABB, and other accreditation and regulatory agency standards. <BR> <BR>Once the Blood Management Program is established:<BR>Collaborates with all levels of clinical and medical personnel to evaluate transfusion management strategies and offer recommendations for improvement <BR>Assist in establishing policies, processes, and procedures to support blood management and utilization models that meet regulatory standards and guidelines based on evidence-based transfusion medicine practices<BR>Establish a process to track, analyze and audit key performance metrics and will offer recommendations to address areas of concern to improve safety and treatment efficacy, and reduce costs<BR>Serve as a resource to nurses, clinicians and laboratory staff for issues related to blood management and administration and transfusion safety, and prepare and present education materials to accomplish this task<BR> <BR>Responsibilities also include the following:<BR>Assist with the preparation of the annual Blood Management Program budget<BR>Promote cost containment <BR>Monitor revenue production and cost savings created by the blood management program <BR>Provide scheduled updates to the Blood and Blood Derivatives Committee, Medical Staff meetings, Laboratory department meetings, Nursing Administrative Council, and Hospital Quality Council on issues related to blood management and transfusion safety <BR>Work in conjunction with the Transfusion Medicine Medical Director, Manager of the Transfusion Service, and Nursing leadership to establish, monitor and maintain safety protocols and procedures which comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements <BR>Develop annual goals for the Blood Management Program in conjunction with the organization's quality plan <BR>Maintain effective communication and coordination with all disciplines that interface with blood management and transfusion activities <BR>Support the organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. <BR></p><p><strong>Job Qualifications</strong><br /><br />Highly desired a current CA RN License or CA Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) License<BR>RN: MSN degree strongly preferred. Three years of clinical experience, two of which have had an administrative component<BR>CLS: Four years of recent clinical laboratory experience in a Transfusion Service<BR>Detailed knowledge of regulations and accreditation standards related to blood transfusion<BR>Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for the appropriate use of blood product.<BR>Ability to apply evidence-based guidelines to improve clinical outcomes<BR>Experience in the gathering, analysis, and presentation of data in order to promote change/improvement<BR>Ability to develop and prepare written technical reports (method development, product trials)<BR>Ability to write concise, well-organized analytical reports<BR>Ability to generate and analyze data for abstract and manuscript preparation<BR>Demonstrated skill in speaking on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar (English) to obtain or give information, explain procedures, teach, etc., and to report results<BR>Ability to promote and use interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service <BR>Solid computer skills and knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications<BR></p><IMG SRC="https://bs.serving-sys.com/serving/adServer.bs?cn=display&c=19&mc=imp&pli=22545718&PluID=0&ord=[timestamp]&rtu=-1" border="0" width="1" height="1" alt="Advertisement">
