EMT Program Director

Job DutiesThe UCLA Center for Prehospital Care is a community education and research unit of David Geffen School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine. The Emergency Trauma Technician (EMT) program provides programs and services to meet the educational needs of the emergency medical services community. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Education, the EMT Program Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the program including; lecturing, curriculum development, course supervision and coordination, teaching on campus, online and at the bedside. The EMT Program Director is a student advocate in the learning process, creates an active learning environment, and maintains a high level of industry competency. The incumbent will lead the EMT traditional, hybrid, refresher, and preparation programs in addition to personnel and budget management.

Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
Current licensure as a paramedic, Registered Nurse, Physician's Assistant or Physician in the State of California or be eligible for licensure in California.
Associates Degree in health services, education or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
A minimum of three years' clinical experience.
A minimum of five years' experience as an educator, with a minimum of two years' in primary EMT program instruction.
A minimum of five years' experience designing medical educational curriculums and programs.
Previous experience with distributed learning or distance learning using systems such as; Adobe Connect or Blackboard.
Experience delivering fire based EMS educational programs.
Proficiency in student evaluations of cognitive, psychomotor and affective domain, including item construction, exam performance metrics, evaluation tool development, implementation and improvement.
Detailed working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and agencies governing medical education programs.
Participation in COAEMSP accreditation.
Previous experience directing education programs, hiring, coaching, motivating, and supervising staff, and obtaining program accreditations.
Certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Cardiac Life Support Instructor, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support from the American Heart Association.
Certification as a Prehospital Trauma Life Support Instructor from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the American College of Surgeons.
Computer knowledge and skill in MS word, MS excel and MS PowerPoint.
Previous experience developing and coordinating large scale and high profile education programs. Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues.
Both verbal and written communication skills with excellent working knowledge of English grammar and basic record-keeping procedures.
Ability to prioritize tasks as well as the ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a minimum of direction and supervision.
Effective negotiation and stress management skills.
Ability to adjust to changing job requirements, priorities, and unusually heavy pressure.
Detailed working experience managing budgets in excess of 1M with multiple funding sources.
Ability to demonstrate spiritual/cultural sensitivity to diverse populations.
Ability to provide service oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.
Valid unrestricted California divers' license. Available to use personal vehicle to drive between hospitals and to off campus locations for meetings.
Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends, and on call for after hours for emergencies.
