VCU Health System's Performance Improvement department is seeking a full time Clinical Quality Analyst to provide guidance and assist in the decision making for statistical and methodological analyses in support of the VCUHS's performance improvement initiatives; performs statistical and other data analyses; creates meaningful data reports; manages external data submissions in accordance with regulations and internal procedures; and provides expertise on data sources, data design and benchmarking. ResponsibilitiesMust be able to think independently and organize, plan and make decisions.Analysis and critical thinking with data.Guidance to staff regarding data, analysis, and interpretation.Effective communication skills; must be an effective communicator including verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills.Complete data analysis methodology accurately.Maintain positive interactions with all customers, colleagues, supervisors, and team members.Actively engage in professional activities.Maintain knowledge of local, federal and state laws and regulations, as well as TJC standards related to position's chief objective; Interpret standards and regulations related to their area of focus.Demonstrate aptitude for compliance with VCUHS policies, procedures, and customer service philosophy.Collaborate with others to achieve goals. Qualifications RequiredBachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Information Technology or related clinical discipline from an accredited programCoursework in statisticsMaintain professional license, if candidate holds a professional licenseMinimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare environment with specific experience in the following areas:-Clinical experience working in or managing a clinical setting (Nurse, Pharmacist, OT, clinical area manager, or similar)-Quantitative experience including organizing and analyzing data and basic application of statistical analyses and statistical process control-Utilizing PC-based applications such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation graphics, and creating formulas and auto calculations in spreadsheets-Querying and report writing in databases-Applying and explaining statistical process control toolsInterpreting and applying local, federal and state laws and regulations and, TJC standards and CMS standards/regulations PreferredMaster's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Information Technology or related clinical discipline from an accredited programSupplemental course work in quality improvement and/or project managementCertified Professional in Healthcare QualityLean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltThree (3) years experience applying analytical, statistical and research methodology, preferably in a healthcare settingPrevious work experience in the following areas:developing and monitoring clinical practice guidelines;applying quality improvement processes and toolsdesigning data models and/or conducting data analyses for research studiesdesigning databases (data modeling) and designing complex queriesutilizing Microsoft Access, MIDAS and Cerner
