<div data-field="responsibilities" class="jd-responsibilities"><strong>Responsibilities</strong><p />Under the general supervision of the Admin Nurse III and the Senior LVN Supervisor, the Senior Licensed Vocation Nurse provides nursing support and leadership in the Department of Urology. Major duties include: provide patient care in an outpatient setting, assist with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies and bladder installations, start I.V.s, perform venipuncture, administer medications, manage patient flow, collect data as appropriate and provide back-up for the clinic front desk, as needed. The incumbent spends a significant portion of time contributing to the development and implementation of a teaching plan related to self-care for the patient. The Sr LVN will travel and work at other UCLA Urology clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Other duties as assigned.
</div><div data-field="qualifications" class="jd-qualifications"><strong>Qualifications</strong><p />Preferred: Knowledge of urologic conditions and their treatments Ability to assist with cystoscopic examination Treatment skills including catheterizations and bladder installations Experience with varied computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs and the UCLA Hospital Information System Bilingual- Spanish Required: LVN License IV and blood withdrawal certification on your license Ability to work flexible hours and travel to other Urology clinics as assigned. Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the position. Expertise in communicating with patients and their families with diplomacy and sensitivity. Knowledge of specific treatment protocols to be utilized. Knowledge and understanding of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Ability to promote effective communication to faculty concerning a typical clinic events or patient activities Ability to assess inventory levels Knowledge and experience in administering intramuscular and oral medication and monitoring I.V. Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, doctors, peers and public. Ability to meet and maintain one's won professional needs. Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Ability to write concise and clear progress notes Skill at effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff and the public Skill at setting up and maintaining sterile fields Ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate action.
