Clinical Lab Assistant Externship

Atlantic Health Clinical Lab Assistant Extern program is available for Medical Laboratory Science students. This extern opportunity is available at Morristown Memorial Hospital and Overlook Hospital. Our students: train in a clinical specialty, learn critical thinking skills and build their confidence for a future in their chosen career.

Minimum High School Education. The program is open to Freshman and Sophomore students. These positions require a full-time commitment, including weekends. The program is for 6 weeks, beginning June 14, 2010.
Program requirement: 3.0 GPA. Application criteria: 1 page written essay, HS transcripts , college transcripts, Resume attached to on-line application.
Application deadline is April 4, 2010
Duties include:
Picks up specimens from various locations as required. Organizes work to maintain efficient workflow for the section. Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standard for section. Recognizes processing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies appropriate personnel
Resolves processing errors, discrepancies, inquiries or problems. Reviews quantities and expiration dates of all supplies. Monitors inventory of all supplies on a regular basis. Orders supplies, as needed. Stores supplies received. Maintains a clean and orderly storeroom.
