Phlebotomy Skills Coordinator

ResponsibilitiesThe Phlebotomy Skills Coordinator has the responsibility, in conjunction with the Phlebotomy Program Manager, for oversight of the Phlebotomy Program.  This position is the primary lecturer, and provides oversight of the program ensuring state regulations are adhered to, tracking and assessing program quality indicators, reviewing student textbooks, exams, and policy changes for improvement, overseeing skills labs and progress in clinical externships, and assuring student completion of all program requirements, as well as other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. The incumbent will have flexibility in their schedule and will be able to accommodate student success by arriving early, staying late, and responding to student inquiries via phone/e-mail as needed.  This is a .05 FTE non-exempt per diem position.

QualificationsCurrent certification/licensure as a California Clinical Laboratory Bioanalyst (CLB) (preferred), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) (preferred), Physician, Registered Nurse, or Physician Assistant.
5 years of relevant clinical work experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting utlizing the required certification, as listed above.
5 years minimum of teaching experience in phlebotomy programs.
24 months minimum of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated detailed knowledge and skill in phlebotomy procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated experience in phlebotomy program development.
Demonstrated knowlege of program and student accreditation and re-accreditation processes with California Laboratory Field Services.
Baccalaureate degree in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred).
Current provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) in BLS (preferred).
Must have working knowledge of MicroSoft Suite programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent communication and instructional presentation skills.  Both verbal and written communication skills with an excellent knowledge of English grammar.
Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts. 
Ability to follow, support, and enforce all educational and operational policies and procedures.
Ability to foster a stimulating work environment.
Skill in working independently and following through with minimal direction.
Ability to prioritize tasks with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal direction and supervision.
Ability to adjust to changing job requirements, priorities and unusually heavy pressure.
Ability to provide service oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.
Interpersonal skills to excel in relations with supervisor, staff, students, and the public. 
Skill in working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues.   
Collaborates with co-workers and works cooperatively.
Available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Must be able to constantly stand and walk with frequent sitting; reach, lift, bend and use great majority of physical motion in daily activities; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, including the human body, weighing 11-20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of weight constantly; finger and hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination needed to handle and manipulate equipment such as syringes, needles, slides, test tubes and other equipment; talking and hearing involved continuously in patient contact; and visual acuity sufficient to demonstrate/provide high standard of care and work accurately with standard computer terminal. 
Valid unrestricted California drivers? license.   Available to drive personal vehicle to campus and off-campus locations for supply pick-up or special projects.
