Unit Secretary/ Nursing Assistant Position Summary
· Facilitates overall department operation and guides the patient experience. The Unit Secretary serves as the communication hub for the patient care environment.
· Responsible for creating and maintaining a care environment conducive to healing.
· Responsible for initiation and maintenance of the patient's medical record.
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· Must have 6 month Nursing Assistant Experience or Certification
· Legible printing
· Clear speaking voice; multi-language ability desirable
· Typing/computer skills
· Medical terminology required within 6 months of employment
· Previous experience desirable
Preferred Qualifications: (MAY HAVE: 'higher' education, leadership qualities, 'special skills, etc )
· CPR encouraged

San Juan Regional Medical Center is a 240 bed acute care hospital with a level III trauma center located in Farmington, New Mexico. In August 2006, an $83 million expansion was completed which added 72 new private patient rooms, most with fresh air balconies. The expansion also added 8 new operating suites, all with ceiling-mounted boom technology, a new public cafe, a healing garden, a well equipped staff/physician exercise room, and a new Central Sterile Processing facility. The older part of the facility is undergoing renovation, with all patient rooms being converted to private. Much of the renovation is completed, including the new staff-only cafe, and a spacious Cardiac and Pulmonary Gym.
